In Memoriam – Norman Edwin Baufeld

April 19, 1945 ~ June 4, 2019 (age 74)

Norm passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 4th 2019. He is survived by his wife Janet Baufeld and their children Danny, Cathy Armstrong (David Mastrotucci) and Norman (Stephanie), his grand children Kelly McAllister, Meaghan Palmer (Steve), Edwin and Benedict., his great-grand daughters Ivy and Alice and his sister Linda Eiffler (Bill). Norm was pre-deceased by his parents Adolf and Ida Baufeld of Killaly, Saskatchewan. Norm was a long time employee with the Bank of Montreal which eventually brought him to settle in Barrie, He was active with the Barrie Chamber of Commerce for a number of years. He was instrumental in founding and organizing the crystal Classic Golf Tournament for the Royal Victoria Hospital (now the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre). The Crystal Classic is a successful fundraiser for the RVH Foundation that continues to this day. Norm was an avid golfer, passing the joy of the game onto his son, Norm Jr, who is now a teaching professional in the sport. A celebration of life will be held on Monday June 17th at the Traditions Banquet Hall (Sheba Shrine), 142 John St Barrie On from 1 to 4 pm.

Many of us got to know Norm during the many years he was on the road, but I also knew him as a co-worker (and sometimes boss) when he came to Barrie, first to run the CBU, then as Barrie Branch Manager and Area Manager. I’m sure that many of you have stories that include Norm, as do I, from that time long ago in another galaxy.
